HyperTexture Rock by GiulioDesign94 HyperTexture Rock by GiulioDesign94
This is a test of a rock I created using 5 layer of bump map and 1 layer to color that rock...
This Rock count about 3 milion of polygons.

Project time : 45 min
Render time : 5 min ( i7 :happybounce: )

The shape reminds me of something from Knotplot. Have you ever used that? I really like this piece. It inspires me to do something similar. I used to do knots with Knotplot and Bryce 6 and 7 Pro.

What were your render and atmo settings? I also have an i7 but for some reason I feel like my renders always take longer than they should, even after reducing light and render quality.

I second this! And I was literally going to ask this EXACT question. I actually use hypervue and a PAIR of i7s to render many of my vue scenes, and I still have very exensive render times. Please share the render settings used -- it would be nice to render ANYTHING of this quality in Vue in 5 minutes.

Interesting formation, I think the use of torii in there still remains a bit obvious, perhaps the scale of the bump-functions could be bigger to distort the shape of it more. Then again I've only done this with displacement - hypertextures I never touch since they seem slow and crash-prone on my comp :ohnoes:
